The John Bull Garage Story...
In the early 1940’s the world was at war and a small company in St. Louis had developed the world’s best chamois. Schroeder & Tremayne had been in the automotive business since their founding in 1915 but never had they developed a product they felt was so good and so right for the market. In honor of Britain’s valiant struggle in those very dark times, the owner of the company, Jack Schroeder, created the John Bull brand and applied it to this revolutionary product. The John Bull chamois was born. It sold well for decades and created a prominent and loyal following throughout the Midwest.
Fast forward to 2004 and that same small St. Louis company. They moved from their original Mississippi riverfront warehouse but their style, culture and creativity remained. In honor of the long traditions of John Bull and in a nod to the company’s rich automotive past, the team developed a new line of automotive themed products to enhance the garage or the home. John Bull Garage was born. And again, to honor the past, a bulldog was selected as the brand mascot and proudly named “Winston” by the company’s current owner, John Wilmsen Sr.
